This can be a thread for your favorite single fins, be they logs, stubbies, or anything in between. Pics, dimensions, favorite conditions for your boards and whatever you want!
Since I started surfing two years ago at 15 years old, I have always had a special place in my heart for single fin longboards. But since I picked up my 5’9 Mitsu about three weeks ago, I feel like it’s opened a new world of fun! This is the only board I’ve been surfing, and I can’t wait to try it in a little bit bigger stuff this winter
Light vee entry to flat in the middle to vee out the tail
hahaha - now I remember you! (from Thrailkill's roundtable). The avatar of Big Jimbo is what threw me! Awesome quiver there buddy, esp. that green gun and that retro pintail and that Silver Streak, and aw heck, the whole stable is just cool.

Gdaddy, those boards are gorgeous!!. How far up is the fin, and what sort of fin template? Do you have trouble with it spinning out with such a wide tail?? Very nice boards and super clean outlines.

Thanks for the compliment. I'm working off a heavy Aussie influence for these boards.
The 7-0 was patterned after some of the 1968-1969 boards on that list, like #107, #111 and #228, except that I toned down the widths a bit and I'm using the more modern McCoy style bottoms. Due to the wide tails most of those boards at that time were using 11"-12" fins with heavy rake. I'm really liking the wide tails and slightly piggy templates because they move the volume and the center of gravity back. The trim spot is a bit further back and there's a lot less moving around between trimming and turning. They're pretty agile for a single fin; they really suit surfing in the pocket. Having all that width and volume at the rear makes it easier to pick up the wave, too. They're very easy to surf - for a singlefin, that is.
I set the box for the 6-0 at 5" from the tail because I intended to use the Horan-style winged keel with it and surf it off the tail. That fin worked okay - very pivoty; but I couldn't get the drive I wanted from it. Maybe if it had a wider base. I ended up switching over to a 9.5" Tudor Karma fin, set midway in the box. The box for the 7-0 is set a 6" from the tail. I tried the Tudor fin with the 7-0 but I ended up using a 10.0" Velzy flex fin we've had sitting around forever - it's kinda like a Greenough 4a with lots of base and rake but a thin tip. That fin is buttah with that board.

Thanks for the info mate, this is going to my favourites!
Haven’t had a chance to use this one yet, so I can’t say it’s my favorite, but it’s my new toy. About 6’-5" x 20" x 2 3/4" old school semi-gin shape. Added a pin stripe, a sticker and a 9" fin since the photo was taken.
I only have one single fin. 9’x22 1/4"x3’. It rides like a dream![img_assist|nid=1055136|title=Dora side|desc=|link=none|align=center|width=640|height=480][img_assist|nid=1055135|title=Dora bottom|desc=|link=none|align=center|width=640|height=480][img_assist|nid=1054458|title=Dora Board|desc=|link=none|align=center|width=640|height=480]
