Single Fin Ride

Sure great surfers, but I think many of those films have sections with “normal” surf…early morning session in Cosmic Children comes to mind, also not too hard to get quality surf, if you’re only looking for way OH that is one thing, but clean lined up offshore walls are not an uncommon thing in many parts of the world…

Does anyone have any input for the Al Merrick 6’9 single fin?

Problem is… all the footage is of great surfers surfing waves with power, speed, juice, and steepness!

Given those conditions, all boards work well.

Given the conditions you normally surf, well, maybe it’s hard to laydown a bottom turn dragging your forearms and back knees.

Those are the VERY CONDITIONS that separate the good boards from the ill conceived junk boards.

you must check out Rabbit Bartholomew surfing Duranbah in Free Ride. That is some very beautiful single fin surfing that shows timeless style and commitment to the rail; simply beautiful. IMHO

Well said Bill.

Unless your a BiG guy you’d be better off going shorter.

I own a single fin shortboard and a bunch of thrusters. On a thruster its all about setting your line and pumping for speed. On the single its all about a big bottom turn, getting high on the face and waiting for the barrel. I love the single for when it gets overhead.

Im 6’0 160ish experienced surfer and I already bought it. Any suggestions to make it work?
