Sion Milosky - RIP

(post moved to appropriate thread)

For some reason, I keep coming back to the recent loss of Sion Milosky.  I'm not into big waves, but I find this photo exudes a kind of tranquility for me.

I only became aware of who Sion was after he made some mag covers and outrageous mag photos just prior to his death at Mavericks.  After he died, I read up on everything I could find on him (and a bit on Mark Foo as well, as mentioned in a prior post).

Some have said thats the risk you take surfing huge waves like that, and I don't deny it.  But at the same time, an acquaintance of mine died from surfing small waves, hit his head on a rock, went to the hospital with a bad headache the next day, and died of a brain aneurism there in the hospital.

I don't accept the "when your time is up" thinking myself, but I do believe that life is pretty fragile, and the end could come at any time.

Very sorry to read of Sions tragic passing. The Miloskys grief certainly cannot be washed away with money but their hardship maybe eased a little and the funds may help to provide some support the girls need now and in the future.

Chris Killens article was incredible. Thanks for writing it as it was. I'm just so sad you had to go through that.

RIP Sion

saw that video...

I keep coming back to thinking about Sion too...

I think the reason is because he was one of us. Not some big time pro, just a regular guy with a regular life, wife and kids, normal job...
