Skil 100

Can anyone help me. The shoe on my skil100 planer is stuck. Used it about a year ago and went to use it and discovered the lever to adjust the dept of the cut was stuck. Maybe fused together due to corrosion. Is there a spray or something that I can put on it to free from sticking without damaging the aluminum? Or should just try to tap on it with a hammer.

PB Blaster or mix of 1 part transmission fluid with 20 parts acetone and apply that.  Let it soak and reapply.  I would avoid the hammer at all costs.

Penetrating lube spray?

Thanks for the info. Will these 2 techniques weaken or damage the aluminum?

Naaa. Just take a hammer to it.  OR----  Sell it to someone who will use it more often and take better care of it.

The transission oil is a really great idea. And it works. Does not hurt aluminium. Try to avoid pentrating stuff with silicon additive. Silicon is hard to remove an can leave traces on your future blanks. With fisheyes as result.

The transmission oil technique worked thank you. Mahalo & Aloha.
