Slick new carbon cloth.

Have a look at this. It is probably much too extreme but the thinness of the fabric and stiffness & lightness might be of interest to some. I am about to do some tests with it…

Wow, Carbon Fibre Boobies!

When the spread tow was starting to get popular about 3 or 4 years ago we got some samples of a fabric that sold for $900/sq meter. If you want to make the stiffest possible surfboard it might be worth it.

We used similar stuff pre-pregged for aircraft wings about 10 years ago and its great for getting no print through. Learned something useful, dont use on really small parts, eg fins, as its difficult to get an optimized layup. Cosmetically for fins, it would be great!

Phuket.  If you aren’t paying enough for the board you are buying or building; have it made out of this stuff and you will.  Airplane wings don’t interest me.  Surfboards do.  Black carbon fiber boards don’t do well on Maui etc.  But what the Phuket do I know?

Paint it white!

Sorry McDing, was just saying I’d used it and what I’d found. Didnt realise composites were exclusive to surfboards ;oD
