hello everyone. At first I want to say thank you to everybody out there, for sharing all your experiences and knowledges to all of us that want to learn.
I have known this site since a couple of months ago but have never posted since I have found everything I want to know in the archives.
I have built two boards for myself and know I am going to build a board for a friend, he weights 70 kilos(154pounds) and want his board to work in 1’-2’ beachbreaks.
We have already come out with an outline. But I am just curious what you guys at swaylock’s would build.
Will post pictures of board when finished, but could take a while since I just became a father…
“1-2 foot” waves? …that would be calf to thigh high!
OK, a 6’ x 24" wide, 3" thick, wide point back TWIN FIN with thick, boxy hard rails, squarish tail, flat tail rockered, slight concaved to double barrelled, curvy outline to narrow tail, thick tailed small wave only board
When the waves get that small, I pull out the longboards… (or just go make boards for when the waves get bigger!) Besides when your kid gets bigger, if you have (or can borrow from your friend) a longboard you can prop him on the nose & tandem ride…
I am 64 kg and use a 6’0 x 19 1/2 " x 2 1/2" fish for the fast and stormy 2-5ft beachbreak surf, but to relax a bit more I have just ordered a 6’6 speedegg for those lower and slower days , with the option to be used with single or thruster.
