Hicksy, that looks dangerous :)
Does PE melt the speedo material when it splashes on it? You should consider foiling glass fin panels in that thing

Aloha Herb, I hear you on that one and the thing is if you get resin in your eyes then you have to add acetone to the mix to clean the resin out and that's not fun either. I was putting down a 5 Gal drum and it slipped out of my fingers and the resin shot straight up out the pour spout and into my eyes and I was so pissed off but got it all out and just took the pain since I have been through a lot worse. Acetone actually works pretty good as underarm deodorant but stings a bit at first,Ha,Ha. Aloha,Kokua
Lindsey,
I know your board is probably sweet but you shouldn’t be kissing it until the resin has cured!
Hope the lip’s back to normal

wilddog,
never got any in my eyes(rez) ...........got superglue in my eye once though.
i can remember a guy here posting 10 years ago about getting rez in his eyes.
his wife came home and thought he'd gone mad when she found him snorkeling in the kitchen sink.

Be sure to remove your gloves before takeing a pee !!!!!
Hozit Herb, That's really sounds like it would hurt since the glue would kick a lot faster than the resin would plus it would burn. I know the resin didn't burn as bad as the Acetone did but at least It got rid of the resin. I had a friend who worked in the boat yards in Costa Mesa and got catalyst in both eyes and was blind for 2 days ,All I could say was OUCH . Aloha,Kokua
Last winter I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand and didn’t realize that there was epoxy thinned with Xylene on my hand. It instantly burned and blistered my lips. I’m not sure if epoxy alone would have done the damage or if it was the xylene but man did it blister my lips up.
Man, these stories are making me flinch.
Waaaay back when, in high school in the 70’s, we were pretty clueless as to the dangers of the chemicals we were using. Once we held down a buddy (he was a freshman and we were juniors) and poured catalyst on his armpit. He was screaming and crying and we just called him a pussy. Just playful hazing of the grom.
I feel really bad about that now. Teenagers are so stupid.
the remedies used by some are/were radical to say the least acetone in the eyes to remove resin? Been there done that laminating resin including revell model glue 6 years old both times went to emergency .bottom line face shield or goggles ,i am amazed you guys didnot loose vision lucky or the wonders of the human eye.when i read this kind of stuff it brings back the memories of the burn, said it before say it again wear safety glasses goggles whenever you working with power tools or anytime its over your head under cars ect… all it takes is one time and your world will change.be safe.
Herb,
My marine teacher told me a story about getting super glue in his eye trying to repair a bike tire. His entire eye was stuck shut and had to rip it appart and lost all of his eyelashes. Tricky stuff that super glue
I'm the idiot that had my junk glued to my leg when I dropped a bucket of resin and it splashed up....bullseye.
Many years ago on a large construction site we had a young guy who was glueing down sheets of subfloor ply and took the glue tube (large) and cranked on the handle to no avail. Genius alert: He kept cranking on the glue gun while looking down the nozzle. He forgot to pierce the membrane and when looking, it exploded right into his eye. I took him to the hospital and never heard the end result. Ouch.
