So Sandy gave me...

So, I found some foam in y street after Sandy and I want to build my kitchen table from it… Im thinking I will shape some rails, glue in some really wide wooden “stringers” for support and paint and glass it.

I never shapped a board and figured this could be good practice. Plus, I need a kitchen table…

I’m wondering how to attach the wood to the foam? Glue? and where can I find some cheap, thick wood?

The wood needs to be the same thickness of the foam right? 2"

I found some cedar siding. (the beveled stuff) that I can maybe use for thinner (stringers)

I’m also thinking of doing the biggest tail block ever…

Any tips or sugestions? Hopefully, I’ll post some pictures…

I lost my car and a few days of work cause of Sandy so, money is tight right now…

I’m hoping to do this as cheaply as possible…

Could work - seems if you are making it to “look” like a surfboard - but not function - then do what ever.  You could find some wood for the “stringer/rails/tail block” too.  No glass, or the inexpensive mat, and the least expenesive glue you can find - think about “clarity” when it comes to the “glass” job, or maybe not worry about the “see through” aspect, and paint it!

after the storm it’s all about salvage.

the greatest salvage opportunity of the decade.

in the case of maritime salvaage the traditional tables

have always been HATCH COVERS!

get a storage yard and offer yard and home clean up

put the usables in the storage yard…

helping out cleaning - up  and providing

materials will get you lots of table materials

making Tables for all themwhats lost theirs

is well on the way to making the community

function again.

it’s all about geting up in the morning

and beating back the debris

until it’s too dark to work.
