Some info for a first board

I plan on trying to build my first board and just have a couple questions. First off, i want to start from scratch with a foam block, and not make this very expensive. This first board will probally become a beater but oh well. I hope to get the foam through Home Depot or along those lines.

The first question is how much resin will i need, im not too sure on the amounts yet. The board is planned to be around 7’6-8’. I plan on using polyester resin other then epoxy because of the cost.

Also I want to read more about the laminating and glossing steps but i am having a hard time locating step by step information. (other then surfer steve) If anyone knows of any links that would be awsome.

the only foam i’ve ever seen at home depot worthy of making a surfboard was EPS foam, which is incompatible with poly resin. EPOXY ONLY!!! good luck…the archives are a gold mine.
