Some Perth Swaylockians get together ...

well 3 of us gathered at 9am, I shot Gray Murdoch and Hicksy’s [two each] wood boards, and fins, as the onshore came in. Had a bit of a chat, checked out boards, and off we all went.

Hopefully , catch up with Gray for a surf during the week on his funkynosed wood fish…do the board swap thing.

Hope the swell sticks around for a few days [unlikely in perth…especially when the hot offshores setlle in, as monday is forecast to be hot…]

When the film is finished, I hope to post a few shots on this thread…stay tuned…

So sorry we missed you Amby, old son…it would have been good to meet !

…shall we pay your airfare over here for the next one ?

[ not sure if you’d like it here at the moment ? …no surf this time of year…you’d need other things to amuse you , I guess : -

…As long as [like me] you’re easily amused, you’d probably be fine, though !!]

Hey, it was great to catch up with you guys again and great to see Gray’s 6’9". You can see from our boards that the experience is producing better and better results. Can’t wait to see the piccies.

It was a strange experience standing there overlooking the car park as the “Group of 3”. Almost like we knew something that the rest of the crowd didn’t.

That’s the magic of being a member of Swaylocks.

cheers

Hicksy

…in the words of sergeant shultz : -

" I know nothing …NOTHING …! "

(at least, as far as making wooden boards are concerned…I’m just a documenter, is all)

I’ll hopefully be able to pick up the pics first thing tomorrow [tuesday]

Then, you can be sure, [computer permitting, of course !] you’ll all get to see what Hickster’s talking about …you have been warned …

'swaylocks secret society or not…‘chip’

  [ben]

as ‘promised’ , here’s some photos

‘bovver boy’s boards’…

the handpainted logo…

single, twin, single, twin…

Hicksy’s the photographer now !!

my 5’9 " [still contemplating a gloss coat, for this and the stubbie…]

thanks heaps Hicksy, for letting me use your garage to finish this and the stubbie…

Great Work all you ‘westies!’

Chip I like the new board!! I would give it a gloss coast if i were you.

Hicksy/Gray Nice hollows, I have to get back to building mine soon but must get more materials! Some times I wish I lived in that side of the well… OZ.

Happy Surfing,

Josh.

Cheers Ben for posting the pics. something certainly went wrong with the nose of the fish, more like a dolphin beak!

…you’re welcome , you funny man !!

Hopefully thursday morning I can ride the ‘dolphinfish’… and if you dare, you can ride ‘Orca’ the [nearly!] killer fish of mine… just watch out for the bloody[ed] fin, is all ! [now you can see the uncropped version…IF you want to, that is! You can also see why I cropped it, and didn’t include the …er…‘article’ previously, none of which I wrote, obviously!]

ben

with apologies to the faint-hearted [and no thanks to the dickheads at ‘Waves’ magazine.]

Thanks for that Ben, top piccies and well worth the effort.

Immortalised forever.

Hey Gray I wouldn’t complain about the nose on your board, it looks different but it works eh…

You do better fins than I do…

cheers

Hicksy

Aaahhh Westies for sure. Actually the ultimate in Westies, so far west that we hit the coast.

For those not in the loop, a “Westie” is someone who lives in the western suburbs of Sydney and doesn’t surf or trys to surf but fails dismally.

The demarkation line can be disputed but when I lived in Randwick the line was at Avoca Street.

Surfies, Westies, Rocks, Skinheads, Mods and the lowest form of life…Clubbies (Surf Lifesavers) were the groups we had in the early seventies.

Hicksy

Yes, Hicksy your right about the westie thing, True Westies go out in boardies in the middle of winter! rednex. Also known as ‘bogan’[!]

[I experience this first hand][living in the hawksberry]

[surfing manly or somewhere else, every weekend + sometimes afterskool]

Happy surfing,

Josh.
