Something Original...

Wanting to do something original, a friend and I came up with an idea...
Start with a basic hollow frame...
Not relieved of any of it's weight, cause this time it don't matter...
Cover the bottom with some VG Fir plywood...
Build out the rails with 3/8" bending ply and cork..
Glass it and fin it with some edge grain plywood fins...

Turn the board over to Mike, who creates this representation of our beloved Jetty wave…

The “water” is glass, the “sky” is ceramic, the “Jetty” is cut pieces of the Jetty…

Mike and his creation…

Something Original Indeed! Nice!

that is REALLY nice!

perhaps the first in a limited run coffee table series???

more importantly how does it ride? Just kidding that is awesome.

Looks great and mission accomplished in the originality dept!

“Slippery when wet”?

… a limited run coffee table series???

We have at least one more “board” planned…

A horizontal view of one of our favorite point / cobblestone waves up here…

What other representations might be cool, given the mediums…???..

Very nice…

A kelp bed from the depths would be cool on one of the 11fters!!

Makes me want to retile my shower! Spitting barrells?, no thats just the soap ledge! Beautiful work, how’s the wax hold on the tile/glass?

A sandy beach, shells & everything?

To begin with Paul your wooden boards are awesome. You’ve got your construction methods down. To add the stained glass etc. turns an already existing piece of art into a one of a kind piece of art. Nice collaboration. I expect to see a few hanging in Northwest upscale restaurants in the near future.
