Something you guys might be good at

saw some photos of power tool racing…anyone ever done it?  I recall a “funny tool stories” thread here a few years back in which somebody told of their belt sander running away when they reset a circuit breaker?

pics of tools (modified for racing)…

I went to a Woodworking Show in Atlanta and saw this stuff. It was amazing the amount of work these guys put in. A chopped and customized Rockwell belt sander won the prize.

I've seen belt sander races but not customized racers. This reminds me when the advent of nail guns hadn't taken off, guys would still hand nail floors and roofs. They made little stools with wheels to sit on and rolled along while nailing. (You would be surprised at how fast some of them were). Anyway, they used to hold races after work (with a few suds) by sitting on the stool and using a Skilsaw with the blades in backwards for locomotion. It got pretty crazy sometimes.

uh oh, construction site contests…hatchet used as tomahawk for accuracy, belt sander races. And for the high risk set - pump jack races - put the claw of your hammer into the release, open for acceleration, close for braking, the ground comes up pretty fast…geniuses at play, not really…

Hmmm at work we often use 1 1/2" drive impact guns, wonder how much torque they'd provide to a set of wheels hehehe

I went down on faulty pump jacks 16&1/2 feet to land on a grouted CMU wall. Grabbed bracing on the way down to slow my speed, ripped skin off my hand and then got REAL lucky! Cracked my elbow(no cast) and all that happened was it knocked the wind out of me. Took the rest of the day off.
