Where does everyone find wood? I live in Florida and there are not many great lumber yards that I know of. Of course we have Home Depot, Leows and all the similar ones around but for specialty lumber there are sliiiiim pickins… what are my options for making a board in FL? (Im on a bit of a budget but dont mind saving)
Try DC. I think the Feds are going to be auctioning off a bunch of exotic hardwoods recently confiscated at gunpoint from Gibson Guitars.
if you ring around some local small sawmillers you may find all sorts of different wood you wouldn’t normaly think of probably not exotic hardwoods but different and with a bit of a story
awesome, thanks for the direction
You sir KICK ASS… just what I was looking for!
wiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnn lol
I have no trouble finding wood every morning for some reason.
A homemade outfit, yellow rubber dish gloves and a purple room…
Unsettling…lol
I buy sheets of veneer from building material center in melbourne, decent selection and pricing. Balsa, the best deals I have found are from Lonestar balsa out of texas, bundle pricing and good quality. They had a major fire and were shut down for awhile but they are open again and can be found with a google search. My latest is a balsa railed red oak veneer, one of my favorite boards to make and ride. Building material center is also good for other types of wood.
