Thanks HT… I posted some photos on 2nd Light. It’s always good fun to hear others’ opinions!
Ahhh Florida…
Hard to take people opinions seriously when they put their wetsuits on if the water dips beneath 72 degrees, and won’t surf if it’s below 66.

“you aint from around these parts, is you , boy”.

i think one of ya’lls beemers are double parked outside starbucks
was your sense of humor removed at some time after birth or is its loss congenital?
let’s keep it civil, y’all.
Amen - I’ve met plenty nice folks from the south, and plenty kooks from up here in the “peace, granola, etc.” Pacific North West… Taylor

yeah, i never had one.
just kidding, i have a sense of humor. there just comes a point where uneducated people make jokes about somthing they have only heard of, just gets boring. its old, let start joking on non-southerners. i personally like having the word hospitality attached to the south.
but yes, “y’all” is a good word and i use it all the time

so i’m uneducated and not from the south?
as THE MAN said: “keep it civil”.

yeah, but i’m blocking in a kia…so fuck 'em.
and by the way, i’m not from “the south”…i’m from the “sub-tropics”
so i'm uneducated and not from the south?as THE MAN said: “keep it civil”.
i meant uneducated about the south. sorry for the mix up. and i don’t know where you are from, because its not in your profile.

Give me a break…that is hilarious…where did you dig that BS up?? Jealousy will get you nowhere. I don’t even put on rubber until it gets into the 50’s…I think you were trying to be funny?? There are yahoos everywhere, tons on that forum. They don’t deserve mats…have fun…
It’s true Oceans…
Buddy of mine moved to the space coast (central Florida), said lot’s of guys wouldn’t even surf if the water dipped in the low 60’s.
But I suppose that if you surf water temps consistently in the 80’s then asking you to put a vest on or a 2 mil top when the water gets below 70 might be to much of a burden.
Maybe they should go to Rhode Island, or Maine in January and see what surfing in 36 degree water with -10 wind chill is like.
Drew
yeh. its true. we can’t wait for winter here, so the crowds will drop.
typical winter day, mid week. small northeast swell. light offshores. air temp in the early AM typically in the low fifties. h20 temp in the mid sixties. crowd: 6 - 8 people all of whom know each other, at least from surfing.
and that’s what i like about the south.
sorry dude, i didn’t mean to piss you off man. normally i don’t get worked up, but i just get sick of the southern stereotype, ya know? anyway, my apologies.
but you’re in the south? where about?

A little backstory…
The stoked visitor to Noosa Heads Australia, who’s been having so much fun on a surf mat, the same guy who started the “Surf mats” thread in 2nd Light Forum (and on a positive note), “MDmikey” is aka Mike DeTemple of Florida, a super hot young longboarder!
"… i have been riding one all week here in noosa, so fricken fun. im ordering one as soon as i get home.
dont be bummed if i drop in on you riding a mat."

FLA.
hey. no problem. a little brisk reparte’ breaks up the solemnity of guys with their micrometers milimetering wave tension distributions in the bering sea.
its FRIDAY!
thats true all the kooks and posers that are out in the summer time disappear in the winter months. when the surf finally starts to get decent.
about two years ago i was surfing second light on a real cold morning for florida standards the outside temp was probably in the upper 30's but the water was still pretty warm. that day the waves where sick, easily 6 to 8 feet with huge tubes one right after the other.
we got out of the water changed in the parking lot and where drinkin some coffee when these two kooks pulled up in a real nice car. they got out checked the waves for a minute. then proceded to take at least 30 minutes to change into there wetsuits take there boards out of there socks wax them up strech for a minute lock up the car and head down to the water. needless to say they walked down to the water and put there toes in the water and turned around and headed back to the car.
the waves where so good that day that i would have went out in boardies if thats all i had. people in florida are scared of some cold water, not all though.
and no one from florida should complain about cold water temps i surfed ocean city md in early march a few years back the water temp was 37 and the air temp was about the same. and it sucked hardcore, i bet i lost felling in my feet for close to a day after about a 30 minute session.
that day i found a new sense of respect for all the crazy notherners that surf during the winter time, thats dedication.
