I just finished the first boad ever, and it turned out wonderful… 5’8 fish with two stings… pics will be online as soon as the thing is finished… I am done with spackling the bottom, now do you sand the spackling after it’s dry to get it smooth, before you lam…just to clarify… thanks, death…
Depends what you used to seal the blank.
Light sanding works on hard, set up sealants.
Sureform blade works on softer sealants.
I usually spackle after the lam coat, to seal any pinbubbles from careless/ultra dry glassing.
One thing for sure, you want the surface smooth, but more important, even and flush, following the blank exactly.
DFB,
Just sand it smooth…not too aggressively…guess I should have said with 80 or 100 grit…have fun…
Use sanding screen, around 100 grit. If you use too fine a grit then the glass will slide around (and possible bonding issues??).
LeeDD, do I understand correctly? You are spackling the weave of the lam? With light weight white spackle? thx
Yes, to seal the lam coat, seal any pin bubbles that cause future problems.
