Spanish shapers advice

Hi all,

I am going to visit La Coruña (Spain) in august for two months and unfortunately I will probably go without my longboard (9’4’’ Bing Lovebird).

I am wondering if any of you heard of a good lonbgoard shaper in that area. I’ve been there a month ago just for a few days and I just saw one surfshop with 3-5 shortboards inside… A good store that sells longboards and other wave riding vehicles will be also appriciated…

Thanks!

Cheers.!

Again, thanks !!

There are no shapers or boardbuilders nowadays in La Coruña.

We’ve just an old man who takes all the poly boards fixed, and sometimes shapes a board for someone. Maybe 2-5 boards a year.

He’s called Tito Fariña and he has his workshop near Matadero beach.

The only guy building boards in the Galicia region is Walter, from ZORLAK SURFBOARDS. He shapes and glasses very good longboards.

The only problem is he has his workshop in Combarro, near Pontevedra.

There are some surfshops in La Coruña, but just 3 of them are actually board shops:

  • VAZVA: right at the beach. Plenty of boards, maybe 200, but none of them over 7’.

  • RAZ: near the stadium. Some longboards available (Surftech)

  • PURE SURFING: the owner is a local longboarder and there are always around 5 longboards (poly and Surtech)

Be free to mail me when you’re at the city: david@tranor.com

…jeez,

that guy Walter is from Uruguay

there he worked in a factory called Raglan surfboards

so…seems now he s shaping for Spanish people…small world

Reverb, are you from Uruguay?!

That’s a great help. Thanks. I’ll contact you soon then…

BTW - your English is perfect

Chusma makes boards in his backyard. He loves shaping bonzers and he lives in Muros, not far from la Coruña at all: http://chusmasurfboards.blogspot.com/

Send him an e-mail.

Cheers!

Longboards are hard to come by in Galicia! They are there, but far and in between. Galicia rules!
