[ the front two are ugly as[s] s-decks...the back two nice boards are by nat young and wayne lynch ....]

here's the Nat Young Surf Design one ....[my favourite , out of all the boards]

[ I had a yellow T shirt of this , when I was about 14yo , it was my favourite T shirt of ALL time !!]

Hey Chip, that looks like dunger-central...nice. There's even a period-true car in the background, the EH.

Yep, that Nat logo on a shirt would have been killer for a grommy.

JD

yep , there were Kombis ....and a hot rod parked outside , too !

that's the Wayne Lynch , to the right of the orange Nat board  [man , the lynch was HEAVY !!]

[that's it , to the right of the orange / yellow Goodtime [a Kirra company] ....

DSCF9868-1.jpg

this 'Goodtime'  was one of the few boards with even a length written on it ?!

DSCF9869.jpg

DSCF9917-1.jpg

[but I think it was written on recently , perhaps as a sales number at another swap meet / auction ?]

DSCF9918.jpg

Hey Ben that Precision Equip Hoye board is really nice...serious gunny lines, deep south west.

And I think you're right about the details written on the Goodtime - Loads of dungers I find don't have dims written on them, Many not even initialled.

Maybe it wasnt such a big deal then, like "Just shut up and go surfing" rather than being anal about 1/16th of an inch.

JD

hahah

  good on em

or maybe a lot of the shapers in those days had so much acid they couldn't read a tape measure ?

 I had a good long chat with Murray , he's a good bloke !

this li'l spoon he showed me , which he surfed ?North Point ? on [gadzuuuks , maaan !] was TINY . I guess he was a bit smaller then than now eh ?

Ben

Do you have a pic of the deck of the spoon ?

Cheers for posting those. Who did the bonzer and transition-era s decks?

no worries Mike !

I'm glad you're enjoying this ... "but there's more" [ to come !]

Got any more pics of the Wayne Lynch? You should put one of those over on the ''post hull pics'' thread.

"Got any more pics of the Wayne Lynch?"

no , sorry Mike !

I was too busy being amazed / shocked by how heavy it was , that I forgot to get more shots , plus other boards caught my eye !!

....to be continued....

Hey Chip,

With resto's its common practice to bog all the dings and re-glass the whole board rather than sand back each patch of ding glass.

Apart from it being a clunker anyway, that could account for extro-ordinary weight.

JD

thanks Josh

my brother said the same thing [ the viccos insider knowledge / black arts , eh ?!]

Stumbled on this old thread in an old message from you on fazebjork, Ben.

Thought you might be interested in this one…

Gordon Woods S deck. 6’1" X 19 3/4" X 3 !/4"   c1970/71?

I’ve just been reading/watching the latest Andrew Kidman DVD book combo where he retro road tests MP’s MOTE board. Interesting as hell. The MP board has a hull bottom, hi/low rails. In the film, MP explains that the roll under the nose works great in the hollow Gold Coast pointbreaks but went like shit in the beachies south of the border, the roll pushed water.

THIS board, the Gordon Woods, is a Sydney board and so has down rails nose to tail and a bottom so flat as to appear concave until tested with a straight edge.

I’ve just fixed her up, it was a pleasure to work on her, such a pretty planshape… very contemporary!

cheers for posting this board , Simon !

70s purple , eh ?  not kiddie pooh brown or olive green for a change ! [i've had LOTS of those over the years ...boards i mean !]

man the s-deck thing is ugly , eh ? [i wonder how good / bad it surfs ?  ] it coulda been nice , if it was as thin as at the purple rail line , with a bit more rocker  [but it WAS 1971 , after all !]

is that the original fin , do you know ?  or did you do a restoration , or make a new one ?  it sure looks big for the size of the board , and far back ....

...... how deep is it ,  and what size base , i wonder ?  [it almost looks about 8-9" deep ,  x  4-4 1/2?" base to me , but i may be way out?]

despite the ugliness of the s-deck [WHAT were they THINKING in those days , I wonder ?!], the board's outline is nice ...

i'd be very keen to see the kidman movie and hear M.P.  actually 'speak' ! [was he very coherent , i hope ?  an interview i saw with him once , poor M.P.  was a 'bit' hard to understand , but he certainly seemed in a happy place , which i was glad to see .....]

is it 'into the ether' , or something like that , that the movie / book combo is called ?

what / who  else features in it , i wonder ?  any fitz stuff ?  martyn worthington ?

   cheers !

  ben

...bugger it !!

I just went back to page one , and noticed ALL the photos have disappeared ??!! **

"er....sorry about that , chief !"

..... once I knock off a few more assignments, and get a chance to get back on here , I guess I will have to re-post the shots , eh ?

[**...that's what happens when I change sways and photobucket accounts regularly , I guess ??]

...to be continued....

  cheers !
