The silly and argumentative troll cap fits you better than it does me, so wear >it along with your dunce cap.

Roy as to your advice of me taking a basic geometry course.

I took your advice.

In fact, I went further, I’m a degreed mathematician.

But that doesnt really matter, as you’ve ignored and made folly of an Engineer with a Doctorates degree also.

Your just a troll.

That’s it, No telly for you both for a week…!!!

Yes I really mean it…you naughty boys!!!

That’s easy Hicksy, I haven’t had a telly for fourteen years!

does no one know a cop! Tell him you going speeding and you need his assistance…I’m sure you can coax him with a donut!

Never wore shoes til I was 13…used to live in a hole in the middle of a lake with 25 brothers and sisters etc etc he he he.

Geez you guys make me laugh. Always have a smile on my face reading this thread…Keep going…

Hicksy

They might be able to get a reading from one of their countless beach security cameras. Perhaps a sign with a doughnut attached hung on one of the camera pods.

Roy,

I don’t know what surfflicks you watch, but most of the ones I watch have more slow motion than the other way around.

regards,

Håvard

Cool, the only ones I see are when I am walking through a mall around here. Sorry, just an iconoclast. R.S.

PPS I have still posted the fastest speed on this forum at

http://www.woodensurfboardbuilder.com/swayclip2.mpg

Just the facts maam;

Are you recording to PAL or NTSC?

What camera?

What editing system?

Distance between nose (of the board, silly) and front heel?

(total board length isn’t much use Roy)

As it happens the management think that I am a tad too opinionated, and since I don’t like being told what do or what to say, I am out of here. You will have to figure it out all by yourself. In any case, you didn’t say please.

Roy,

Why do you say that commercial videos are speeded up ,what proof do you have that this is taking place ?

I have co produced at least 15 videos and been involved in the production of many more.

It is certainly not a common practice among video makers to speed up the footage !

I can guarantee any of the rot videos you buy are not speeded up

Puerto Underground is a prime exampleof a film readily available with no speeding up

my buddy Scottie helped Dave edit the entire video i know its reg speed.

I suggest you try to verify your video analyisis .

have your girlfriend film you in your car traveling at 30 mph

then use your tech to see if you get 30 mph when you analyize the vid

I have already posted an attachment showing you are not going nearly as fast as you think you are.

clearly showing only 6 feet in 1/3 of a second 18 feet per second = 12 mph

its pretty easy to see your board almost sinking when you killed speed to just under planing maybe 8 mphish

from there on the lil squirt which is where i analyzed at frames 323 to 333

you gain some speed (x .5) but certainly nothing over 18 mph

I clearly marked the dot of water which I was using as a marker

I have no idea what video program you are using to advance frames but suggested you use vdub and still do.

I really believe now that video analysis can be extremely accurate

as long as you use a program that accurately records what a frame is

notice how vdub displays the frame and exact time down to the .000 second

show me your dot you are using(notice that certain dots appear to have traveled different distances as well becase the speed of the dot drawing up the face as the wave moves under it is adding the waves speed somewhat to your analyzed speed  ) and frames what to what. make a screen shot like i showed in my attachment using vdub. and

please please show me where you are covering 12 feet in 8 frames !

tell me the exact frames where this is happening

i never saw it !

Soul

not sure how it will affect but film is recorded in 24 fps then converted to video at 30 fps

common tech is to repeat a frame every so often in such a rythem that

it hits 30 fps . the entire thing is timed out to make 1 second for 1 seconds worth of film footage so sounds still sync

PS You say that I am annoying ‘everybody’. That’s a lot of people, are you quite sure? Let me know when you have counted them all.

Uh…count me. Roy your total disregard for any scientific argument is painful to watch. Do you really need every member to call bullshit??

denial its not just a river in egypt

Mike Paler has expressed concern about the ‘tiffs’ which are happening in discussions involving myself. Anyone who wishes to contact me should do so on my e mail as I will not be entering into discussions on this public forum.

Roy - Sorry to see you go. I, for one, will miss your out of the box stuff!

Roy, I’m sorry to see you go too. I thought many of your claims were ridiculus. But, so what? It was interesting stuff. I think I said when you first logged on your boards were beautiful and you had an interesting way of expressing yourself. Still think that and would add a pretty good debator. Persistant anyway. Thanks for sharing and good luck. Mike

Roy: I agree with Rooster and John. I think it is a shame that a unique surfer such as yourself does not feel welcome. I hope you will reconsider. Good luck. Patrick

Aloha Roy Stewart…How is it that I don’t believe you will post again? …ambrose… In the spirit of the last two cents … and the hesitating step spoke as loudly as words hollered , the playmates watched quietly waiting for the figure of ol’ roy to turn arround… that the form was decreasing in size as it walked away into the sunset was met with an incredulous set of grimaces, though no one spoke up and hollered “Com’on back ,we didnt mean it…” because maybe they wannted somthing else…but they didn’t know what…sometimes playmates are like that…

Roy,

I too will miss your posts. While (as I have written before), I am skeptical of the speed you reported for the wave/ride that you posted, I think this has been an interesting discussion. I had been planning to make some speed measurements in the future using both a GPS and a water speedometer (I have a propellor type, but as it’s not presently working correctly, may replace it with a pitot-type), and you’ve motivated me to move my schedule forward and make measurments with a wide variety of types of surfcraft (hopefully as many as possible as “simultaneously” as possible–e.g. within a few hour period).

Secondary benefits for me have been Soul’s (James’) recommendation of the Garmin Geko 201 and the Aquapac (thanks!), plus the additional speed references and comments that many others have posted.

I would like to see some sort of resolution of this issue, and so I’m hoping that perhaps after a cooling off period for all of us, you and the webmaster (Mike) can work out an agreement so that when you have some GPS measurements of your speeds you will post them here (and perhaps make the track data available to some third parties via e-mail). Hopefully you and soul might also be able to compare speeds on a few more of your video clips as well.

But no matter what, I found your boards, and your structural approach to their construction, to be very interesting and the craftsmanship to be well done.
