spider cracks...sealed or not?

Sunday one of my boards got dropped in the parking lot…

It now has a lot of spider cracks in different spots.

I can’t feel any of them.

Does this mean the board is still sealed?

Do they need repairing?

What will happen if left as is?

thanks

Fix them, don’t wait until you see droplets of water coming out or a brown stain appears. Sand them down to almost the weave, apply some styrene with an art brush, and hotcoat the area before the styrene evaporates. Hotcoat a second time over a larger area or lam a piece of 4 oz over it.

Hey 4est, I fixed many a spider shatter with thin super glue. Make sure it’s dry first, then warm up the area with a hot gun/hair drier, the air inside expands, allow to cool, as it cools the thin glue is drawn into the cracks. With practice this method does a perfect job, is quick, easy, and structurally sound.

No arguing with success…however, my Super*Glue package says:

Not recommended for “parts which are subjected to great shock or immersion in water.”
