Hi…My name is Chris and I ride a longboard …with sensitivity and awareness. Now…on said board, I run an 8" spitfire type fin (2+1 set-up, but that doesn’t really matter). I’ve always wondered if the drag from the spitfire fin would be that different from a ‘generic’ (less perpendicularity…OMG !..that’s actually a word ) 8" fin. Going at way subsonic speed, and away from the kelp beds…what do you think ? I can’t really tell. I’ll take my answer off the air. Thanks
My experience with the ‘Spitfire’ compared to the ‘conventional’ fin was the Spitfire provided a little more stability and a little more drag. The Spitfire was a little faster without the sidebites and ridden as a single fin, but only compared to itself. Still a little more draggy than the conventional fin. This on a medium performance longboard (9’ 6")
