Spring Board Challenge - completed entries

Here is another one. I didnt glass this one.

The title of my thread ought to be “If it could go wrong, It did go wrong.”

Finally wrapped this one up today.  This board faught me every step of the way.  First the tint on the bottom came out way off from the color I was intending.  For the life of me I can’t figure out how an intended deep green tint comes out looking like Easter Egg Blue.  Quite a few worm holes in the blank that I should have picked up on.  Un-even color in the bottom tint in the butt crack, at wings and at the nose of the board where the cloth lapped itself.  233+ Masking Tape that bled like a son of a bitch on my cut lap.  Thinking I should have added a lot more color to my resin.  Then a few yellow fingerprints on the bottom from having a little resin on my hands when I flipped the board.  Then got a little too aggressive around the fins with the sander so I had to hot coat the bottom again.  Finished up with the masking job that I did for the black pinline wasn’t as flowing as I would have liked.  From 10 feet it looks awesome but it is not up to my expectations.

My head just wasn’t in the game for this build and I’ve been busy with other things.  Once again color work bites me in the ass.  Oh well.  Back to making “Basic Surfboards” for me.

Think you’re being too hard on yourself Mako, that board looks great (both shape and colour-wise). How does it ride? Love me some twinny talk

we should do this more often.
