sprout

saw the movie in nyc a couple of weeks ago – one of my favs – t campbell really seems to have his pulse on what, at least i, am very much interested in these days – his blend of humor and photography is really unique these days – not to mention his seemingly independent look at surfing (i.e. - converse sponsored some of it, but from the array of boards and people and styles he really doesn’t seem to “owe” anyone) – every one of the surfers was just phenomenal – rasta no doubt had the biggest smile on the neumatic but that guys surfing is amazing – keith malloy riding a finless shortboard – tom wegener – what can you say, he is just a class act – def not a joker in my book – if you get the chance to view it don’t miss it – when it comes out on dvd it will be a must have – oh yeah – gamboa on the liddle was impressive, but it didn’t even compare to the time i saw him on it at malibu (i was out in the water and all i could hear was speed, then a little spray over the top of the wave them bam, he pops over the wave – i could not beleive the speed that guy was able to generate – not to mention he seemed to be the only person at malibu that was able to get a wave to himself! and the lis/frye/brom/mandala-type fish ridden in sprout will surely make you order one straight off – apologies for the ramblings – well done malloys and campbell.

so cool, I cant wait!!!

I saw this movie in Narragansett a few weeks ago too, it was so good…I can;t wait untill it comes out on DVD!

Is there a star man versus fecal man 2? Exciting to hear Tom W is in the movie. I sometimes tire of seeing the usual suspects in these longboard flicks.

Just a side note - I was emailing back and forth with Manny (Mandala surfboards) and he told me that Rich Pavel shaped most of the fish and quads seen in the film. Its coming here to South Florida in about a week - can’t wait to see it.

No,there is not a fecal vs. star 2. There is a funny shaka section and a trippy animation which I, sorry to say, will probably skip past on the DVD. This is a beautiful film, with enough differences from The Seedling to not make it seem like an exact copy with a different name. I do have a few things I would change immediatly if I was editing it and I would like to discuss those things, however I won’t for fear of tainting the viewing pleasure of those that have not seen it yet. If anybody is interested in what those things are; let me know and I’ll start a separate post.

go for it, start a new thread or follow up here

How about a special screening at Dukes or someplace in Malibu as a benefit for the Surfrider Foundation? That would get a buzz going here in So.Cal.
