Anybody having trouble with new whiter looking squeegee rubber swelling up if left in actone as well as becoming far too soft rubber like [limp?}.never use to have trouble with old yellower looking squegee rubber been glassing boards for a job for 12 years never seen this before
Yep, seen it before. After clean-up, don’t leave it (squeegee) in solvent overnight. We used to periodically leave the squeegees out, to return to ‘‘normal.’’
i concur… i find it just happens to the white squeegees and not the blue. kinda weird.

classic swayquest. Squeegee trouble.
Hall of fame
I use 3/32 or 1/8 balsa sheet cut to 1.5" x 4" with the grain running along the 4" length. I round out the side I plan to use as a squegee and it works great. After each use I wipe it clean with an old paper towel and let dry. Eventually a thin film of resin forms and it works even better. It is way cheeper than the store bought squegee and you never have to clean it.
They keep changing the rubber compounds due to material availability and cost. Some white Thalco’s will swell and others don’t. I’ve been using the blue lately, but I quit soaking either type for more than 1 hour or so. Clean throughly in two levels of acetone, wipe dry, and give it a final wipe with lacquer thinner (removes any sticky residue from the acetone).
Does anyone else use white vinegar? I soak my squeegees for all of 5 minutes (as long as the resin hasn’t fully cured), wipe and they’re as good as new.
