Stagger Lapping Three Layers

Would it be better to split lap the first layer and then stagger the remaining two? Three layers of four ounce is what I am referring to.

split lap?

you meen cut it 1/2 way down the rail?

I would concur, staggering all 3 laps

Yeah, halfway round for the first layer. I would imagine wrapping three layers as well as bevelling all three would be a bit of a nightmare.

I just lammed up a 10 footer today (32oz of epoxy)

2 layers 6oz on the deck stagger’d

cut the lower glass at the bottom of the rail then

the second layer about 1 1/2 inches beyond

you cant even tell the was an overlap

I say go for it ,may come out better than you think

advice, Flood it with resin then let the resin or epoxy soak in

before squeegeing it to pull out the air

First one, just past rail center, the next one 3/4 inch past rail center, and the last one another 3/4 inch beyond that. Have been doing 3 X 4oz. like that since about 1979/80. It works like a charm!

Thanks Bill.
