stand up boogie?!?!???

I cant get on the KB forum for complex IT reasons but this was forwarded to me from a friend who posted the link there. I think this is a post from Bud McCray who grew up shaping Fish and still does. Makes some of the best KB’s on the planet…

"Here’s another cool clip of him…

http://www.waveblasters.com/videos/provideos/wonbb.htm

I’ve known Chris Taloa since he was a kid.

He lives just a couple houses away.

He’s an exeptionally, talented, gutsy, surfer, a real gentleman and all around good guy.

Half Tongan / half Chinese and solidly built.

It amazes me (and most everyone else) how he gets to his feet on such a small board then tears the surf apart on it.

He trains hard and can surf anything you give him.

He specializes in bodyboarding though, got sponsored for it and landed a part in a few films as of late. Blue Crush being his foot in the door for the SAG card.

Over the years I’ve made a few 4 fin standup surfboards for him.

He came to buy a 4 fin fish from me just before Christmas last season.

I gave him a shrunk down F2K / 5’5 X 20".

I told him, " Keep your money and just give this little rocket a work out. Then report back later."

He rode the sh!t out of it and left it at the Volcom house at Pipe when he was on island then took it to Mex and Malibu while away.

It became a real favorite with some of the Pipeline / Back Door crew.

Local hot guys like Braden Dias and Dustin Barrka loved it.

They wanted to get one but then the blank famine struck.

Chris just dropped it back 3 days ago.

It’s pretty battle worn with a major ding on the rail from scraping the reef while he was pitted at Back Door.

Chris once entered a local HSA standup comp held at Back Door Pipeline.

He took 4th overall standing up on his bodyboard.

There was a lot of lame whining from the other competitors, particularly from the ones who got knocked out of competition.

They were crying about how he wasn’t riding a"real" surfboard.

Can you spell… “LOSERS” "

That clip is hot–can’t believe the drive/speed he’s getting through the barrels

You also notice the smoothness of his whitewater floater without the vertical control surfaces to catch all the turbulence.

Personally I’m not a big fan of the sponges especially the clueless girls and gals who drop in all the time until you smack them good and yell at them to go in.

I don’t ride sponges, but I am a big fan of the girls who do ride them. Around here they are usually not clueless and guaranteed they’ve got the killer asses.

I’m always more than a little surprised at some of the anti sponge comments that come up here on Sways of all places. While a post about mats or spoons will have people waxing poetic about the genius of Greenough and the miracle of flex and performance, mention of a bodyboarder gets dick draggers and I hoped he would get run over.

Have you not seen these guys ride pipe? The shit they pull is amazing. I personnally stand up and sponge, it is just a quiver choice based on the waves any particular day.

I recognize that a lot of people don’t like BBers due to sheer numbers and wal mart availability but isn’t true design genius taking all those magic design elements like flex and making them easily available rather than having to pay out $600-2000. basically there is no other design out there that can perform as well in as many different conditions as a bodyboard.

cheers

chris taloa doesn’t use any kind of fin on his sponge last time i checked. stnading up on a sponge is fun i do it a few times every summer, only problem is getting in early enough to stand and get trimming.360’s are so easy too!. i used to be a hardcore bodyboarder, yes there are retards whgo do it but serious ones deserve respect such as mike stewart

Well I guess you start looking and its everywhere!!!

I’m drawing something to sand out of styro about all this

sick sick sick!!!

that is one of the freshest thing’s I’ve seen!!
