hasslehoof’s got nothing on you now, Gary…NOTHIN ’ !!
p.s - I ‘d rather ride the ‘world’s biggest fish’, than surf with and swallow the world’s biggest school of ‘blind mullets’ [ the aussies will understand … Especially those that surf manly or bondi when the yearly strikes are on ! eh, Josh ? …you know what I’m sayin’ ?]
Okay … seriously now [all my “idiocy” aside for a minute] : -
…how many layers / what oz is the carbon fibre cloth you used , Gary ?
Is it very difficult to lap the rails with, compared to ‘conventional’ glass ?
Do you have to use epoxy resin with carbon fibre ?
Was the ‘camo’ an inlay, on TOP of the carbon fibre cloth ?
What’s carbon fibre cloth stuff like to sand ?
is this a single fin …boxed ?
how do you get your arms around it to carry …28" is pretty flipping wide eh ?
And being that thick a board…how much does it weigh …any idea ?
okay, thanks mate !

[ Sorry to ask so many questions…]
3 LAYERS 4.8 TOP AND BOTTOM W/ THE CAMO PRINT AND A LAYER OF 4 OZ. ON DECK
DON’T HAVE ENOUGH EXPERIENCE TO SAY IF THE LAPPING IS EASIER/HARDER. BUT THE CARBON IS ONLY 30" WIDE SO IT WAS DIFFICULT TO GET A GOOD OVERLAP IN GENERAL.
YOU CAN USE EPOXY OR POLY BUT I BELEIVE THE PERFOMANCE CHARACTERISTICS ARE WAISTED ON POLY.
WHEREAS THE CARBON IS NOT TRANSPARENT THE CAMO WENT ON TOP.
IT IS A VERY STIFF FIBER SO IT SANDS VERY WELL.
IT WILL BE SINGLE. SPEAKING WITH RICH (HALCYON) ABOUT A FIN.
YOU DON’T GET YOUR ARMS AROUND IT. I’LL CARRY IT OLD SCHOOL, ON MY HEAD.
W/O THE FINAL FINISH COATS, BOX, AND FIN I’D GUESS AROUND 20-22 LBS. I’M HOPING TO KEEP HER UNDER 25 LBS AS YOU KNOW HOW MOODY WOMEN GET WHEN THEY’RE OVERWEIGHT.
WTF?!! Mr. aquafiend65, just what do you intend to do with such a gigantic whale of a fish? I reckon someone’s gonna get hurt if they don’t steer clear! ha!
Have you sanded Graphite before? Caution: the human body does not reject carbon as readily as glass, so the fibers can get on your skin, drive themselves in, and make you miserable. The “itchies” are unbearable from sanding carbon graphite. You may want to get a paper suit from the BBC Hardware and tape the cuffs real good like.
Years ago, Greenough told me that he was wet-sanding with a machine so he would avoid the dust hazard. He said he forgot that Graphite conducts electricity and nearly electrocuted himself!!!
Good Luck Mate.

Yep!!! I know…
See,
not a olo board, you will be comfortable with the Kayak guys, this is outside the glide mode I am personally persuing with my paddle designs, this may be the poetic justice of the decade…escape from newport ala escape from new york…ambrose…sanding carbon graphite…ahhhhaaaa
where abouts do ya paddle? ever think of throwing a few leashplugs on it to secure an ice chest, swim fins, mask and spear for summer time spearfishing trips?
Where do you attach the outboard?
I love it, very well done, can’t wait to see the finished product.
cheers
Hicksy

You could always paddle or club her, and carry her over your shoulder, caveman style…
BTW I wouldn’t take it out when the whales are mating, just asking for trouble…

Wow! That’s a fish. How about two great big wooden keels. Two 4’x8’s should do it. Nice work, Aqua.Mike

Paddling out to dominate a beach break near you! ( hahahahaha, just kidding ambrose)
Actually Dave, I usually paddle south out of the harbor entrance, down to El morro.
The leash plug/cooler idea is a good one, as it would allow me to get drunk and numb myself to the guilt and shame of mowing down those on the inside. WWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAHHHOOOO, COMIN’ THRU BEEEEYAAAATCH!
Dave when you see me coming, put a red slash on each arm and one across the forhead and the “angel of death” will pass you by.
No but seriously, if you ever want to use her for a “fish trip” just ask. Thats a great idea!!!
There’s this reservoir where I live with really big large mouth bass out in the middle if the deeps part…boats not really allowed…gets me to thinking about a different kind of access. Let’s see. I need my fly fishing vest, fly rod, … You know the old saying, it’s easier to catch a fish with a fish.
