Started shaping one year ago - time to say thank you

With board 8 and 9 I suddenly felt like things came together a lot better.

Nr. 8 is the blue/turquoise Mininoserider.

And Nr. 9 is the orange Mini-Simmons.

It was gettin more consistent and felt easier and I enjoyed it very much.

The Mini Noserider is 7.2x22x3, a little teardrop concave under the nose, flatish middlesection, a bit of vee in the tail. Rocker is 3 in the front and 2.5 in the back with a flip in the end. Chined rails in the front, fading out in the middle, medium hard edge from the sidebites on throughout the tail.

The Mini-Simmons is 5.11x22.7/8x3.

2.5 noserocker, 0.5 tailrocker, but with a 1/4 deep vee (railends are 0.75 tailrocker)

Full rails, but with a very crispy edge starting quite early in front of the quads.

I´m working on Nr. 10 and 11 now.

Nr. 10 (the picture with the flared channels) is a refined remake of Nr. 3 - less volume, refined foil and rails, 6.2x22x2.7/8.

Nr. 11 will be some kind of short/eggish 2+1 singlefin (6.5x21.5x3)

I am thankful for all of you who share your knowledge.

I remember so many worthwile comments and tips from Stingray, Yorky, Bill Thrailkill, Barry Snyder, Huck … just to name a few.

The threads of Sk8ment are pure gold, love to read those. You saved me from a couple of mistakes with your stunning build-threads.

(I was damn close to the “flying blank in the garden due to a gust of wind” thing)

CWR is another one who comes to my mind. And so on…

I hope from time to time I can contribute a little bit to the sharing of experience, be it with build-threads or the documentation of my screw-ups.

MiWie.  Very nice looking boards and I’m happy to see German craftmanship is alive and well!  Mike

Your Gnarly mate,

Very cool stuff, and is that a hint of a beer belly I can see?

Haha…Yes it is, sometimes more than just a hint.

I guess I´m half Oger / half mankind.

I remember a sporty 150lbs french HPSB surfer to which I talked on the beach before a session.

I mentioned I need big boards to float me…He said “With that 7.2 funboard you´ll catch the smallest of waves…”

When we were sitting next to each other in the lineup and both of us were sitting chest deep in the water (my board had 40liters) he just said “Okay you won, now I know what you were talking about.”

I noticed I missed a few questions.

Reverb aksed.

-The photo of the board in the beach is so natural that s incredibly organic. Can you share at what time; focal length, etc?

Do you mean this picture ?

It´s just a picture my wife made with her mobile phone I think.

Must have been Porthcawl Restbay in Wales, may 2016.

Hi MiWie, i like to see your work. Like you i am an engineer work with my head all day and when i go back at home i need to use my hand, i rebuild most of my houses, and i make many car audio system, i was a car audio competitor, but what i like more is to make boards from an EPS block with hand made tools. I bet your next project will be a CnC hotwire cutter, a good way to work with block.
