How does one order a Steve Lis Fish. Telephone/Email/WebSite?
i got a couple from -Toby, the master shaper designer that got all those wierd posts for not getting boards on time.Well the good news is the boards he got from SteveLis for me are incredible.The bad news is it took 2 yrs to get them!! And all those posts whined about waiting what? a week or two??hahaha.Toby told me he is fulltime on kauai now and shapes for a few friends.I could be wrong.The new board i just got from toby is unreal so have patience and give rich a call at the greenroom in O.B. or don’t.I always have plenty of boards so waiting is not a big deal to me and iam always satisfied.Toby was one of the big rock, sunset cliffs guys from the 70’s and he was a great kneeboarder.I know he shaped with Brewer for a couple yrs and never kneeboards but, no one has shaped as many fishes as he has!!
JHall-again how do I get a hold of Steve Lis, is the Greenroom a authorized dealer?
Jhall is basically saying that the best way to possibly get a Lis is to talk to Rich Pavel “Toby” at the Green Room. From what I understand Lis only makes boards for friends and if you can get a commitment for a board it might be a few years before you recieve it. I did see some beautiful Lis fishes that are posted in the photo section of Swaylocks and they were glassed at Clyde Beatty Jr’s so that might someone else to talk to. The closest your going to get to a real lis style fish is a Rich Pavel he is a protege of Lis’s and by anyones standard makes the best fishes around just ask Derek Hynd . Pavel is the one that came up with the lowered rocker fish blank that is offered by Clark. Hope that helped.
i recently heard from a friend that he is riding that bay on kauai on 7 or 8ft quad swallow tails and smaller fishes .Living happily with new daughter and wife and golfing a bit.I don’t believe he is doing much shaping for a living.The thing that was amazing about his fishes is of the 20 or so i got from him i never had a board that was anything but magic!Rex huffman turned me onto toby in the mid eighties.He still rides them in big fiji.I rode my 5ft 6" in large HT’s it worked great.
