Hey guys. i am soo happy now. Its my first shaped board.

Almost finished little things to do and then it’ll get a couple of personal logos and some colour aswell as some glass.

Im loving shaping. Already have someone wanting me to shape them a spoon and i havnt even finished my FIRST!!

Any comments would be awsome.

Will post further pics.

Another showing pencil outline.

Twin keels ??

Quad??

Suggestions ?

what length did it end up being , “Firth” ?

how about a 5 fin option ?

ben

p.s. - I think we might see more burford and farrelly blanks in photos on the forum , somehow…

i think its 5’4 maybe 5’3. havnt really measured it yet.WIll prob go with a twin keel setup for my first aye. cant wait to ride the beast. Its freakn thick.

5’3 ??!!

… how tall are you ?

ben

aha i think im about 5’8 5’10 i duno im all metres. Im not liking inches and feet. Pishhhhhhhhh

that’s ultra cool cheater!

I imagine you have lots of good waves for it in NZ.

good work!

Josh.

PS… is that an SX guitar. i’ve got one of there acoustics and the’ve got a good sound for cheaper guitars. definatly a bang for buck.

wow! big job. Check out www.flexspoon.com and if you want i’ll send you the dimensions of my spoon.

That’s a lotta 0’s!

Many people here understand metres too you know…

And just in case that wasn’t just a slippage - that’s a dust mask, no?

Wow, I sound like a rude bastard. Not intentional at all. Nice work on your first! Might need to start using some Australian blanks too…

lol yea actually it is a dust mask my bad.

A lot of boards are going to be shaped hense the zeros aha.

I am just about to put up a post on the spoon, cheers,i will check that site out.

Well I hope you guys have enough blanks down there to make a gadjzillion boards…

I thought I was overdoing the zero’s on my #0001 thread…

Yea it is an SX gat. Theya re very good fora cheap guitar. Love em.

Aha Yea i hope it dont increase prices around the world or anything. That’d suck.

Im so stoked on shaping. I think i’ll be doing it FOREVERRRRRRRRRR.

Here are the fins i foiled up to use on the fish. Was having an indecision imungst myself on weather to do full keels with pretty much no rake or these. Ended up doing these. Maybe keels on another board.

What do you guys think. Dont mind any constructive critisism.

I like 'em !

…what length is the base on them, and how deep [high] are they , cheats ?

cheers !

ben

They are …(runs down stairs with ruler) 175mm long and 115mm deep.

I think they turned out very nicely apart from that stupid little imperfection in the wood at the front. O well i guess it kinda gives it character.

= 6 7/8" base , 4 1/2" deep …

sounds good for the size of the board , and your size [what do you weigh mate , about 50-60something kgs?]

cheers !

ben

have you decided how far up you will set them ?

Yea im about 55-60 kgs last time i checked. the fins feel really good so i hope they work well.

Pretty much only a small wave board and mostly wil be using my shortboard for the bigger stuff so fin depth didnt need to be that big.

Cheeeeeeeeeter,

One of the things I noticed on the Gephart keels and the keels on the Kane Garden was they thinned out the rear two-thirds of the foil more than yours(and mine). I started doing that on mine although I haven’t put a set on a board for me yet( A thinned out set). So, my suggestion is to foil the back two thirds a bit more. If you are patient I can try to get photos. Mike

Oh yeaaa. Do you mean the back is umm how do i say this. it flatens out over a longer period kinda thing. I think i know wha you mean. I shall do that. i was actually thinking of that. ha

I’ll do that when i have some time. The fins where kinda looking pretty flat in the middle and i dont think that is very good for performance.
