Stolen boards and serial numbers

I was just reading about the guy that recently lost three boards up in Carlsbad. I don’t know about the rest of the world, but here in San Diego it helps to put serial numbers on your boards. It helps in the sense that it makes the board a little harder to sell. The pawn-shop style used sporting good stores have to quarrantine a board for thirty days if it has a number on it. If there’s no number on your beautiful custom board, then the crook can get cash right away, and the shop can resell the board that same day. Serial numbers are also tracked at area swap meets, and the info goes to the Sheriff’s Department. So put some sort of number on your homemade boards. Make one up. If you’re having a board custom shaped, then ask for it to be numbered. Sometimes they won’t do it unless you ask.
