strange request

I am a furniture designer and need to prototype a chair design. The chair is likely to be manufactured through polyurethane moulding but to make a prototype I was thinking of carving it out of surfboad foam. Where can I get hold of blocks of the foam? Thanks for your help

Surfboard foam is probably what you do not want to use (expense). I would suggest insulation foam glued together. There are foams that you can buy in billets(blocks). Contact your location fiberglass supply shops. Windsurfer building use billets all the time. If you are unable to find a foam locally you might try www.fiberglasssupply.com. They have foam sheets and will also be able to recommend a billet supplier nearer to you or have better ideas of the right foam to use for your project.>>> I am a furniture designer and need to prototype a chair design. If you live in the San Francisco area, you can get the pink installation foam blocks at Pearl Art Store. I believe the dimensions are 1ā€™ x 1 1/2ā€™ x 3". ----Michael P.S. Do you have a web site where I can check out your furniture. Iā€™m an interior designer.
