this cant be true?! how will all the kids be able to afford that? I think Herb is kidding…maybe…i hope

Yeah, I sure hope this is a joke. Herb, just pullin our leg, right?

And how could they possibly inforce it. The first thing you’ve got be able to do is administrate. The would be real science fiction!

sounds like the newport surf licence bout 1959

And how could they possibly inforce it. The first thing you’ve got be able > to do is administrate. The would be real science fiction! Hmmm…just get the laws on the books and allow selective enforcement to take place. Like the Palos Verdes Police could use the law to fine and imprision visiting non-locals. They could, of course, keep the fines; imprisonment would take place somewhere else. Gray Davis and Bill Clinton: 4 more years!

All the scary crap aside, why is there such a nice price tag for getting certified for CPR? Teaching CPR has become quite the cottage industry. When it comes to helping our fellow man, seems like there’s always some hefty fee involved. This should be taught (mandatory) to everyone from an early age - in grade school - as part of our school curriculum. T.

T. …Tom,I agree with you 100%.CPR/ALS training has gotten expensive.I have been a health professional for over 20 years now,and every year or two I have to recert. my CPR card.It started out at about 10 bucks, but now it costs like 50 bucks for basic life support course, and triple that for advanced life support course.Nevermind that I have saved over a couple dozen lives, and dis-logded several objects from victim’s airways. It should be taught at a early age ,in schools for free.Herb

Sounds like being a surfer is more difficult than being a gun owner. If this were true, I would move far from this country who’s goal is to take away the freedoms that so many Americans have given their lives for. What is the definition of freedom anyway… they should have put it in the Constitution so all of these politicians cant make up their own. Imagine- the government has no problem with destroying the ocean, but wants to regulate our right to enjoy it. This morning I woke up in a curfew; O God, I was a prisoner, too - yeah! Could not recognize the faces standing over me; They were all dressed in uniforms of brutality. Eh! How many rivers do we have to cross, Before we can talk to the boss? Eh! All that we got, it seems we have lost; We must have really paid the cost. Burnin’ and a-lootin’ tonight

All the scary crap aside, why is there such a nice price tag for getting > certified for CPR? Teaching CPR has become quite the cottage industry. > When it comes to helping our fellow man, seems like there’s always some > hefty fee involved. This should be taught (mandatory) to everyone from an > early age - in grade school - as part of our school curriculum. T. The high cost is a result of forced compliance laws on corporations. I’m not sure if it comes from workman’s comp insurance companies or just where, but as I was hitting the eject button on something of a career job it was becoming mandatory to have so many certified First Aid/CPR people per number of employees. Factor in normal turnover and layoffs or expansion hiring, and a company could easily hold classes all day, twice a year. By doing classes at the workplace they broke up the day for employees, actually did some good for the company, and kept their costs down by not having to reimburse employees for time and travel. It is very cost effective for companies. Where the cost increases come in is to private citizens who now have to pay corporate rates, because the training providers control access and have increased overhead. Very worthwhile, however, to have the training and keep current certifications - a good resume thing if/when needed. Duck and cover! Nels
