Its about time for me to buy my first blank, and I would love some advice. The board is to be a 9’6" longboard, more in the area of a noserider than a performance shape. What I was wondering, is would I be better off to go with a stronger (classic?) blank, and a lighter glass job, or a lighter blank and heavier glass job? I wont be glassing I would like it not to ding easily. Thanks for any advice. Also, being my first project, would it make much difference using a say “classic” blank when it comes to shaping? Would it be easier for me not to take off to much foam? Thanks alot for any help.
Why not go for the green blank and either epoxy or vinylester resined glass? With either of these resins you could use 2-6oz on bottom and 2 2/3-6oz on top. You would have a super strong, lightweight board which would flex well. Reportedly, vinylester resin has a drab color. So if you don’t want to add a color coat, use epoxy. Surf Source has it cheap. Be careful. Don’t get epoxy on ya.

Classic foam is so much stronger, with a lighter lam it will net about the same over finished weight, but give a stronger board than lots of glass over a blue or superlite
