Stretch Quad fin combo recommendations

Just picked up this used Stretch Quad round pin 6’0x18.25"x2.25" at Arrow today, it’s my first quad.

…woah

It came with Vector II 438’s. What do the swaylockians recommend for one who lives in Santa Cruz, and is 6’ at 160 soaking wet in a 4/3?

You guys are inspiration!

Been making a few of the quads for lighter riders lately. For your weight and the size of that board I’d put a set of the FEA’s vector 2 fronts with the 340 rears. If the board feels too skatey and your looking for more grab then put a set of the 375 rears. The Stretch 438’s are pretty solid fins and it looks like the rears might be the 400’s, that is a pretty slide free combo. Tons of grip which can be great if thats what you want.

I’ve found that the quads can be night and day with a fin change. If you don’t want to drop for a complete set at least try the smaller rears with the Stretch fronts.

Yo Mattew,

Once the trailers get over 4.0" deep directional transition starts to suffer big time. For smaller waves you won’t need as much trailer and vectors will work ok but when the waves get bigger you’ll want less agressive lead fins and more engaged trailers.

Great looking board; it’ll handle lots of different conditions.

No Worries, Rich

…yea…

no bigger than 3.75 for the back fins. At that point I feel it really becomes a drive-oriented ride, at the the expense of the loose and snappy feel that the quad offers. To keep it feeling responsive, I like a bit less base in the back.

Howzit mattew, I'm helping a friend who is doing a 5'8" and it will have FCS M-5's for the leading fins and Gx's for the trailers. It's a fish so may not be the set up you need.Aloha,Kokua

Thanks for replies guys,

I’ve been looking everywhere in town for the rear 340’s and 375’s in a two pack, do they even do that? Is it only possible to get full quad sets? I’m going to go broke trying fins!

If you’re in Santa Cruz try Stretch.

I’m 5’7 150lbs dry and use the Vector II Scimitar fronts with Pivot Rears for my 5’8 x 19 light swallow new school fish. I really like the feel of them. To me at least they provide enough drive while allowing for quick turns.

I tried them with larger rears 425s I think and it was harder to turn. I’ve seen the fins purchased in pairs so check around. First though swap out fins with your friends!

I would for sure trade up, sadly I’m the only one I know with a quad!

I’ve been tooling around with the idea of trying to locate a template to modify my 400s into a set of 375s, though.
