Saw this on the Stretch site. I wonder how similar they might be to surfburger. Has anyone ridden one?
quote:
This is a design and construction technique pioneered by Stretch boards since 1989. Long before there were pop outs, we were building custom sandwich epoxy surfboards. We have built hundreds of these boards. Learning from each one such things as they need to be thinner to have equal buoyancy.
My staff has been with me for over 10 years and is dedicated to hand making the strongest and lightest sandwich epoxy boards possible. Because we use wooded stringers(something no one else does)we have dampened the flex characteristics of an epoxy to clearly match that of a polyester, which is a more suitable flex for a surfboard being that epoxy for most people are a little to extreme. Because our tolerences are exact, these boards are up to 50% lighter. For example, a 9’0" pop out weighs about 15lbs. A 9’0" Stretch Ultimate weighs 10lbs.,and is stronger! Since these boards are more buoyant, lighter, and thereby more resposive, the need for a custom shape is much greater than any other construction.
These boards are available custom made in any of our designs.
Based on what I’ve read it sounds like the burgers are lighter. Maybe the stretch stuff is more like what bert already showed us in his vac thread? I’d love to hear some feed back from riders since these are currently available in the states.
