Stringer availability

Sorry for the redundant post, but I can’t seem to find info on where to buy baswood stringers. I know this info has been put out before, but searching hasn’t turned up much. Any vendors selling stringers?

Thanks, Matt

Green Valley Mill has all of clarkfoams rocker templates. They have minimum orders and require a business license to start buying.

If not, google Washington state…lots of basswood companies there. It would be better/cheaper to mill your own stringer from larger stock. If you custom order basswood with a thickness of 1/8" or so…your stringers will come “cupped”. Mill your own, and use the stringers asap.

What size and type of stringer are u looking for? I have in stock. (10’1"Y in redwood,spruce,10’3"spruce,10’8"A redwood, spruce) all are 1/4"

Thanks manoa. Should have indicated that I was in So. Cal (LA area) and somewhere close enough to pick up would be ideal. I’m mostly making shortboards and fish for myself 5’6" to 6’5". I don’t make more than a few boards a year so if I could buy a stringer for $10, was thinking about taking the easy way out.

Hey Matt

I don’t know So. Cal. too well but I’m sure there has got to be a specialty lumber yard around that has basswood. If they don’t they might be able to steer you in the right direction. If all else fails give a call to one of the blank manufacturers. Plead your case and so long as your not a competitor or something like that they may be able to hook you up with a supplier. Outside of posting the question on swaylocks, thats what I’d do. Good luck.
