what would be good wood to use for a stringer for my 6’8 fish eps board. I need to find something that comes in a sheet.
You can use what ever you want. Bass is a common stringer. Maybe some other hardwoods. Heck, who said you even need a stringer!!
I use maple for stringer, you can get the 2mm thick one they use for skateboards.
Just love the flex of it!

Just chalk a line down the center and shape and glass it without a stringer. Glass it with 2 layers of 4oz cloth top and bottom. The wrap from the rails will give it the strength you need. Don’t waste your time and effort on a stringer. Also MAPLE does not make a good stringer for surfboards. It will make your board stiff. I don’t want to name drop, however there are some really good board builders who are making stringerless EPS boards with a great rate of success.
You can make them pretty strong w/o stringers on fish that size. Double 6 / double 6
