i make my own blanks (see proget frog, or $14 blank) and i make them with out stringers (well because i don’t have any wood/ I’m lazy/ I spent all my money on the foam) but i like the way the boards ride i find them more flexy which doesn’t matter to me because im super light.

I’m a big fan of yellow cedar, bright colour, straight grain, relatively lightweight, water resistant and buttery smooth to cut with a block plane. Red cedar is much easier to find (here anyways) and also gives a very interesting colour (varies from very deep brown to purple at times).Check out a thread done by Lob where he put a 3inch balsa stringer in a fish, that was a sexy stringer too.
