Stubby single-fin egg

I want to shape my first board.

I'm thinking a stubby 6' or 6'2" single fin egg for hi tide beach break. What would be a good blank to start with? It's going to have  really low nose rocker / beak nose ?

Thanks.

Ekim,

Use a US blanks 62rp. I don't know if there is a longer rp blank, but if there is then use it for a lower rocker. I made a 5'10x20 1/4 x 2 5/8" single fin pumpkin seed  board, and used the 5 10 rp I believe. the nose rocker is around 3" if i recall correctly, and the tail is about 2 1/4".

Instead of a beak nose, the deck(tip to tip, not rail to rail) is flat, and the nose rails kinda droop creating a some what beaky nose, but nothing like a lopez bolt pipe gun.

A beak nose is done on boards with a point. Eggs have no points. That’s the whole idea behind an egg. No sharp edges, hard transitions, or points. All soft, blended curves and contours.

Oh sorry. my bad. the beaky nose on mine is on a pumpkin seed type of board. No blunt nose. I guess I didn't read the egg part and just saw "stubby single fin".Sammy A is right.

Yeah its a 62 A and a 510rp sorry about that. pretty much any fish blank will work, just make sure that the nose and tail are wide enough, and the longer you go, the flatter you can make your rocker.

OK ,no  beak . But I want low nose rocker. Don't see a 6'2"RP in the U.S. blanks website.

How is this achieved?

Well for example, if you are making a 6' board and have a 6'6 blank you could cut 3" off the nose and tail. by cutting this off, you are taking some rocker off the nose and tail. I hope this makes sense to you but if not, just look at a blank and imaginethe nose and tail cut as so, and how that would affect the rocker.

Good luck

Make perfect sence.

Could you cut off 6" of the nose? Or 6" of the tail?

I would start with a fish blank.......

....Back in the day...

,......before astevens was born........

...all great eggs came from the 6'2" fish blank or the 7'2"...B.......................Clark Foam............

I like this kid...Astevens......I don't always agree with him...thats OK......

Hey ekim...get a blank catalog.......buy a blank ....build a board......It's that easy....

Stingray....

hey stingray,

I think the 62 A is a fish blank, or at least it says so on the description on the catalouge.

I screwed up and said 62rp(non-existent), but really that is a 510 rp and that is a fish blank too, rich pavel's I believe. I havent used a fish blank larger than 62A so I dont know what is out there.

Also, I don't mean to step on any toes here, and I always appreciate criticism from guys like you with more experience, because that is how I learn.

thanks :)

Ok. 6’2"A blank.  Now how do I get my template? I know a glasser in town so I’ll leave that up to him. I appreciate everyone’s help.
