Hi
Searched the archieves but didn’t find what I was looking for.
Busy with my 3rd board and first time using PU resin, during the hotcoat, I’l be using sanding resin for hotcoat, do I add styrene to thin it a bit?
If so how much?
Thanks

I wouldn’t add a thing. The stuff works great as is.
Why would you thin it?
If properly done, it will flow out just fine.
FYI, surfacing agent is styrene with wax.
If your sanding resin seems a bit thick, as if it may not flow well, something’s not right.
It could be:
Old resin
Wrong resin. Some of the cheaper boat and autobody resins are thicker than standard surfboard resins.
Too cold storage temp. Never leave your resin in an unheated space when the temps drop below 55. It is best to store them at around 60-65 degrees. At the very least, bring the resin indoors and let it acclimate to room temp for 24 hours before use.
