SUP Wooden home built

Boco Rio, remember that there is a huge difference between a 10’ LB that is 24" wide and 3 inches thick, and a SUP that is 12’ long, 31" wide and 5" thick. Specifically the SUP has 72% more volume and 65% more surface area. Since they are hollow, the surface is most relevant and that alone would increase the weight 65%. So your 30lb LB would equal a 49.5lb SUP. My skins started at 1/4" on the deck before any sanding, and 3/16 on the bottom before sanding. Yes, I could have cut circles out of the spars and stringers, but that would have only saved a few pounds total…at most. I would have glassed it with only 4 oz cloth if I could have found cloth wide enough to span a 31" board (need at least 40" width for deck dome and laps), but could only get that width in 6oz cloth.

Shame you didn’t get the ride you were after, the work in it looks relly good. Personally I wouldn’t care, its art. Any pics after the glass went on?
