SUPER LIGHT COMPOSIT(plastic) FINS???

Yup!

Larry and I have been working on these fins for over a year now…

The new ProBox composit(plastic) fin

Two comperable fins…similar size…only slightly different template

the first weighing in at 78g or about 2.75oz for one fin

the new ProBox fin at 62g or 2.18oz

So we are clear

16g(.56oz) lighter than its counterpart

That’s over 1/2oz PER FIN!!!

As if that wasn’t enough…to my knowledge, these are the first fins in the world made from

100% RECYCLED MATERIAL!!!

I am so proud to be a part of such an amazing achievement.

Sounds good… Lookin’ forward to getting my hands on a set of these in the future.

+1 for the planet!

Larry's always been good.  His power pads, longboard fins and boxes have always been high quality.  But;   He has really started to come into his own by collaberating(sp) with others who have ideas that need his expertise to be brought into the mainstream.  I looked over a nice selection of Larry's fins at Steve Albin's Aloha Glassing outlet shop in Westminster, Ca. this week.  Really impressed with the flex type fins.  If any of you happen to be in Westminster maybe shopping at Foam EZ;  check out Aloha Glassing.  Same building as Foam EZ.  Great glasser.  Outlet for boards by Minchton and Bettis.  Good one Todd.   Hope it works out.  So since these fins are made from recycled material; I'm assuming a set of thruster fins will sell for less than say a thruster set by FCS or Futures?  Or is it the same old Obama story that I have to sacrifce and pay more to go "green".

Very cool.

Any plans to make fins with other bases?

how do these composites compare to the old ones? i like my first pro box install but found the plastic fins to be flimsy.

Not the first, but probably (most likely) the first large scale manufacturer to do so. Had a friend in Mex about 10-12 years ago, making FCS knockoffs out of recycled milk cartons. Worked pretty well, but broke too easily. I'm sure the ones you guys are making will be considerably stronger.

FCS was doing a "green fin" a while back, but it was 50% recycled (still a noble effort IMO).

Keep up the good work, they look great!

Thanks for the kind words McDing. Alot more to come just trying to complete one of many projects at a time. As for pricing: Tri fin sets-$25.00  Side Bites-$12.00 Quads-$36.00. I think you will find these retail prices good to other molders company prices. Mahalo, Larry

JD, These are alittle stiffer, I agree with you my friend the old ProBox production fins are of the same material as industry guys. Todd and I wanted to be different than industry guys and better performance this time around. Mahalo,Larry

surfthis, You are right strenght in the recycled world is a tricky factor which is why it took 9 monthes to complete this project. Almost thru my hands up a couple of times, LOL.  Milk cartons pretty cool concept, LOVE that out of the BOX thinking.Mahalo,Larry

looks like good stuff fellas!

glad to see it... pricing looks good too

Good work Todd & Larry!

I’ve been hearing about the progress of these fins for a long time. There were multiple rounds of formulations to get that strength, flex, and weight balance dialed in. Developing new products is never easy but you guys nailed it on these!
For a plastic fin, the flex in the new recycled plastic is more comparable to Larry’s Fibreglas fins, much better than softness of the old production plastic fins. Great pricing too!

Larry, post that pic of the fin’s ‘spine’ to show how you designed these fins.
