Hey Guys I am new to the forum and I have been reading a lot of the archives that have been posted. The information has been useful as hell, Thanks for all the input. I have been embarking on a lot of projects this last month. One project is shaping my first board a 5’10 fish. The other project is fixing my broken Takayama. I live in North San Diego County and I was wondering if anybody could give me some places that sell supplies. Home Depot does not carry 80 grit sand screen. Any suggestions?? How about a place to buy glassing supplies at a resonable rate? Any input would be of great help thanks. Jason.
Try EZ FOam on the net, Bashams in San Clemente, Try drywall supply stores for the screen. Luck.
Check the resources tab above and go to material and supplies. Fiberglass Supply has about everything you could want and a good website. Ace hardware has sanding screen but its pricey. Maybe someone here has a place closer to you if you prefer not to wait on mail order. JR
Jason - Try Mitch’s. I think he has a couple of stores in your area. I used to get great prices on blanks, resin and cloth but I’m not positive if he carries sandpaper, tape and so forth. Good luck on your board building and repairs!
A local wood flooring supply store should be able to sell you sandpaper in any grit, including chunky. The flooring sandpaper for giant belt sanders is about 1 foot wide, and the clerk cuts your length off a sandpaper roll. No piecing sheets together on a foam block.
