Don’t know if this is a funny story or not. I got an old sail board from the rubbish tip, stripped it, cut down the blank and was ready to go. I went to my local 'glass supplier & tied up a rep for about half an hour asking about different types of cloth etc. I then bought 6 mtrs of cloth (That was their minimum order, this company is pretty big, supplies to boeing etc) Went back one week later for some more gear. Their minimum had changed to 10 mtrs and any order under $100 attracts a $30 surcharge. Can’t help but feel they are trying to discourage me. P.S I ended up getting my cloth from a surf shop at cost, Carabine in Wollongong NSW Australia. The thing is I always thought that from little things big things grow, obviously this is not the modern corporate marketing thinking. BTW, the board turned out ok for what was basically a learning experience. Alex.B
I work for a big composite distributor and send guys like you to Fib Hawaii, Foam EZ, Fiberglass Supply all the time. You have to no what you are good at doing, and some companies a set up to cater to the small guy, others are set up to sell volume. It would cost me more than the $30.00 surcharge to cut down a roll. You want to buy a tanker of resin? Craig
