Surf Manufacturers, why deal with costly FINS?

"Surf Source has partnered with Speeedfins of Austraila to supply the East Coast with Bennett Foam bundled with Speeedfins or X-Rated twin Tab fins and box sets (FCS compatible). Therefore the price, when figured with both fins sets and blanks, will be very comparable to what you have been paying in the past. "

Quoted from Surfsource

Questions, why do Surf Manufacturers have to buy the fins? Yeah why do we? Why are you cramming a weak system down our throats? Forcing customers to have a poor product

Benefits: The Manufacturer will not have to pay for and tie up alot of additional cost

Doesnt this work out the same? Plus people who dont have LAAAAAMEfins install kits thats an added cost.

Kokua, what about all of the customers that want to buy your boards and already have fins?, You are then forcing them to buy fins that they don’t need.

And with this endevour you are forcing people to buy fins they dont want…

The whole concept is FREEDOM of Choice.

No its not,apparently

Thanks for being such an obvious contradiction to what you are trying to do

Geoff is a tool, and im sure once everything falls in place, the system fails again like it seems it will, and animosity builds towards you guys for cramming an inferior product down peoples throats. And whats even better is anytime anyone has issues they can call you direct and bitch cause at least you guys answer the phone unlike Justin and thier other reps here in the US

Scott, just use a slower hardener for the Fin box installs on sensitive P/U blanks.

EC, finally you said what I wanted to hear. We had this type of situation with FCS when we distributed them. Their policy stated that the manufacturer had to buy Fins and plugs together, no choice. People like you an me got pissed and started switching to Futures. Coupled with a price increase, within 2-3 Years FCS lost almost HALF of its market shrare. As you know, FCS dumped all of it’s US distributors to have more control. This has taught us that Austraila does business differently than us Yanks. Therefore your information will help me provide proof, to help alter the selling policy with Speeedfins as a supplier of Blanks to the US. Thanks, I hope to report back soon with a change in selling policy.

Howzit EC, If you read my replies I don’t force anyone to take fins, I offer them as an option . Aloha,Kokua

Howzit Surfsource, FCS never made me buy the the fins and plugs together but if you do it’s less expensive. I 've ordered just plugs many times and just fins also. But at $2.50 a plug it’s just smart business to buy the sets. Been doing business with FCS for over 8 years and they never forced anything on me, in fact it’s been a pleasure working with them. Aloha,Kokua

Kokua I just quoted from up top, I work the same way you do regarding fins, I think you may have just misunderstood the direction of my post.

Tom’s right even in Oz Red X is sold as you want it fins, plugs we don’t care as long as you get what you want.

As for the business practises of FCS and Futures here in Australia there are rumours that both companies are now owned by the Macquarie bank which if you search for news articles is known for its hard edge business style. It should be about freedom of choice and about a good old fashioned thing called service…

Cheers

Speeedfins, o’fish’l and the now defunct fintech all sell boxes with out fins.

When you way up shipping it costs the same to get fins as well.

I buy boxes in bulk and get the fins the punter wants at the time he orders the board.
