im looking in getting some thule racks for my car…was also looking at yakima brand too. anyone have any experience (good or bad) about either of these or any other surf racks out on the market that might be just as good quality qise but not so pricey??? thanks!!! Josh

Key is to read their charts and know what your car will need. That car didn’t have raingutters and was a 2 door, so in the end I had to get extenders so the boards wouldn’t see-saw on top - which they certainly did without them. Total cost for racks, extenders, brackets, and locks was about $300!!! Cheaper than getting another car… Thule is supposed to be similar, although I hear slightly less pricey. The Yakimas were bombproof in the years I used them. Because of their high price many people sell them used when they change cars, and because of their variety of components you might be able to outfit yourself between a used rig and new components for about half the new price. Knowledge is the key, and between the internet and their catalogs they make it easy for you. Nels
