Need your help,
what surf related charities do you think are worth supporting and why? There must be quite a few in all corners of the world.

or anything that looks after our coastline and waterways
These guys are a little rough around the edges, a little dangerous…but I like 'em that way.
And, for my money (surf-related or not) you can’t go wrong with these guys.

Both have among the highest work:overhead ratios in the NGO world…and go places most of us would run from.

I cannot support a group that draws millions in donations each year by travelling to one of the most remote portions of the planet and disturbing the extremely poor natives’ normal way of life. The local seal hunters in Canada are all much more poor than the people on the Sea Shepherd that attack their way of life, and the annual seal kill is their livelihood. The Sea Shepherd NEVER attempted to help them in their needs - they prioritize native seal cubs over native humans that hunt them.
Doctor’s without borders is very different, compassionate, and they do not exist fundamentally to attack the actions of others, but to cure the victims.
The Surfing Medical Association is similar to doctor’s without borders, except that their actions are focussed on the rural poor in areas with good surf ie: they go to remote places in Indonesia - potential surf travel trips, and they provide medical assistance to the locals, and surf. I know several members, they do a lot of good, and a lot of good surfing.
I am friends with the founder and owner of Save the Waves.
Will is remarkable in what he accomplishes with his setup.

Agreed.
I’ve also given a couple grand to SurfAid. They seem to be doing good things.
Also you may want to consider supporting the Surfing Heritage Foundation - http://www.surfingheritage.com/index.htm - They’re the ones that will insure the preservation of surf history. My business partner George Orbelian is one of the founding members, and we are both on the Technology Commitee.
