I’ve heard of some guys in France who really experimented on board design for handicapped persons. Let me see if I can find back some info.
Hey Pierre, funny timing. I just spoke with Ishmael (the founder of Vag d’espoir) a few minutes ago. Great guy, lots of enthusiasm and stoke, and more than a few ideas. I mentioned them earlier in this thread, but would again recommend contacting this association for info/ideas as they now have a lot of experience. Paul, if you need any help translating, I’ll be more than happy to do so, although I think Ishmael’s English is pretty functional.
As a side note, he’s doing great on a 9’2" chambered balsa double-ender that I shaped him. Plenty of rounded vee in the back third, with a slightly accelerated tail rocker, and he said that in spite of his limited range (single amputee with a good prosthesis) he’s doing full cutbacks on it!

Mitch here from China,
I have no real ideas based on knowledge of what I have seen or made.
But, perhaps something along the lines of “wetsuit” padded collabsable “tubes”
If you can get the idea of what is essentialy the top of a expencive prosthetic leg,
But make it 2 of them, side by side, perhaps staggered, “hinged” on the board"
Perhpaps with a “tie” on each leg “compartment” But it would have to be quick release in case of trouble.
Other ideas would be, a Miniture SUP, as in, hinged (foward and back) strapped in leg system
Small paddle (like 3 foot), board around the 6" mark
The idea of needing the paddle is he could (perhpaps with help) hit the water, strap in, and paddle out
and procede to catch waves by using the paddle to get onto the waves, help steer, but again, would reccomed a quick release system for the straps/leg holders
Anyways, if any of this comes to fruition, PM me
I could make it from any materials, PU, PE, Carbon, wood, perhpaps, much cheaper
but shipping would be costly for 1 off
We could possible work it out, China boards allready has a bad rap, call this one for the good guys.
