surfcraft suppliers

hey all, after recently becoming addicted to the art of surfcraft, I’m faced with a dilemma… where can a guy from New Hampshire find a place to buy some blanks? The first blank I bought was from a shaper living about 2 hours away from my home, and though he supplied me with everything I needed, his prices seemed a bit high… Is there any way I can cut out the middle man and get boards from the source around here without paying tons for shipping across the country? Any recommendations from the east coast shapers? Also I was wondering if there are any shapers on this forum from New Hampshire, if so I’d like to meet up sometime and maybe just pick up some hands-on information. Thanks a lot in advance, i’m just getting into this so all your guys’ experience is crucial for me! Peace.

Why not make your own EPS blank?

yeah thats what i do and my boards turned out fine and im only 14 so think what you can do (but ive learn from trial and era so get some help or it will take a long time to shape a glassable board) and you could get togeher and spilt the shiping

Yeah, I went the self made EPS blanks for the same reason. Getting a box of blanks up here to Canada costs quite a bit. Am trying to find out if I could get it brought to somewhere in the US near a border and bring it back myself, but it still might costs me quite a bit.

Would only like to do that to try shaping a PU blank to compare the difference.

New Hampshire is where I go fairly regularly with friends; to the wall at Hampton Beach, sometimes up to Jennes or Gooches in Maine.

nice sounds like a good idea for a broke guy like me, I’ll have to look into that!

thanks

our .75lb cheap EPS blanks cost us $15 USD and are 4" thick and come in any rocker I can get my hands on and can be up to 24" wide and 96" long. Our more expensive blue XPS blanks run up to $45 for the same size. Requires no electricity to obtain or create just a drywall knife a two foot long scrap piece of 2x4, some 36 grit belt sand paper, a staple gun, some glue and alot of tape, an old inner tube or stretch wrap.

if you want to shape a cheap PU and can’t get a blank.

go find the biggest, ugliest, cheapest and not too bussup used longboard at a yard sale or land fill trash bin.

then slice and strip the skin and reshape the PU into something else.

do a search on Shipman’s little green fish from a recycled throw away board he found in the garbage…

Marvelous, and mother nature will like you too…
