I don’t want to throw this into the existing “Surfblanks vs. Marko” thread, and since SD seems to be the only one up to it and willing to do it, I’d like to propose one additional variable to the possible US Blanks Red vs. Marko molded EPS performance test. I feel like the computer shaped blank is the best way to do the test as it eliminates as many shaping variances as possible.
I say each board should be painted white post-glass, with the letters “A” and “B” painted on them with the foam and fiberglass mix known only to SD and his glasser.
The idea being that the rider will not take any preconceived performance notions regarding the type of foam, resin, glass content out into the surf with him/her.
I’m not in anyway suggesting that your riders didn’t give you an informed, unbiased opinion in the “Surfblanks vs. Marko” test, just a way to test the rides with any rider pro or not, and eliminate any pre-surf bias.
I also propose glassing them as you would normally for each foam type, resin type, cloth type and amount.
A true, blindfold taste test, as it were. Just a suggestion, but I think it would be interesting, maybe even a bit revealing as to what riders prefer.
Forgive me, I’m laid up and bored with a swollen ankle from catching a rail then catching the rail in the joint twixt the ankle and the top of the foot. The pain that keeps on giving!
